On September 21, 1996, the very first episode of CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO was broadcast on CHMR Mohawk College Radio. I can’t be sure how many people tuned in to hear the program since the broadcast could only be heard on campus or on Cable FM ( FM radio access via coaxial cable) but once the show was done I couldn’t wait to get back on the air the next week. The radio bug had bitten me and since then I’ve produced hundreds of programs over the course of the last two decades.
The Cable FM days ended a few years later when CHMR was granted a license to broadcast for the very first time over the FM dial. The station call letters changed to CIOI and began broadcasting on 101.5 on the FM dial on March 23, 1998. CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO aired its first ever FM show March 28, 1998.
On February 12, 2003, CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO was made available for the very first time on-demand using the power of Real Audio. And in September of 2006, the show became an online program exclusively.
The show is now produced in Kitchener, Ontario and on September 21, 2016, the show officially turned twenty years old.
To celebrate this momentous occasion I’ve decided to produce a two-part program dedicated to my ten favourite scores of all time. I honestly can’t remember the last time I presented a show on this topic but I hope you enjoy these two very personal episodes starting with part one.
On the program, you will hear selections 10 through to 6. You will also hear two recorded messages from my former station managers at C101.5FM. I will also be reading a few messages from listeners who wanted to offer their thoughts on the twentieth anniversary of the show. And CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO composer David Coscina has written a very special 20th Anniversary fanfare, which you will hear off the top of the program
Next week I’ll present more behind the scenes info and photos from the past twenty years of the program and you will hear more recordings and messages from listeners of the show… old and new. And I will also present my top five favourite scores of all time! Listen to Part II by clicking HERE!
Thanks for tuning in! And as always, I would love to read your feedback and get your suggestions on how I can make this particular show better. I’m also encouraging requests for this show. So, if there is something you want to hear please let me know. Send an EMAIL with your name and what track you want to hear.
Syndicated on WROCK Radio and PodTyrant.
