A great selection. I absolutely love his work. A favourite of mine is his Jaws II score
Jaws II is exceptional!
Is “Thomas and the King” really so horrible that you could only play 2 minutes from it? I would’ve been curious to hear more, but I guess I’ll have to do that on my own time – it’s your show, after all!
I think I can hear some similiarites between the latter part of the “Black Sunday” cue you played and the Death Star chase and Death Star battle cues in “Star Wars.” Interesting! I can swear I hear the first few notes of the Force Theme playing long and drawn-out in “The Air Chase” as they do in “Star Wars” (this is where I really wish I had the technical musical vocabular to discuss such things…!)
Boy, the “Superman” fanfare and theme never fail to give me chills, no matter how often I’ve heard them. Amazing.
As always, another great show! Thank you for this!
Thomas and the King is REALLY bad! Speaking of Black Sunday and similarities… I hear a lot of Black Sunday in War of the Worlds!
Brilliant work, Erik! Glad you enjoyed doing this. I have one niggle, however: where is Close Encounters?
Sorry; there was about 5 seconds’ worth after all 🙂
Yeah – That was a tough one to drop! I really wanted to include everything from Williams’ 1977-1983 scores but I would have had to do a 6 or 7 part show to fit everything in!
What a gerat tribute! Soon you can do a 5th show for John Williams. The reason is the expanded HOOK-release by LaLaLand records in the end of March or in April!!!
