JOYOUS FILM AND CONCERT MUSIC

On this week’s episode of CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO, I thought I’d produce an old-school film music mix program.

I’ve been producing film music mix programs since my days on Mohawk College Radio.  I also have a collection of these mixed bag programs here on the site which you can listen to HERE! Usually, these film music mix programs don’t have a theme… I just pick random tracks or random albums and play them for a few hours. However, today’s program has a theme! I thought I would present a program that promoted nothing but positivity. A show that makes you feel good. A show that’ll put a smile on your face.

So, today program focuses solely on JOYOUS music. Anything goes. Film or concert music. Fanfares and celebrations. Music for fireworks. Music for sports. Triumphant, strong, bold music. Music that will lift your spirit high in the sky and make you forgot for a fleeting moment about anything negative in your life.

On the program today you will hear selections from composers John Williams (Liberty Fanfare), Peter Boyer (Silver Fanfare), John Addison (Reach For The Sky), Lee Holdridge (The Tuskegee Airman), Clint Mansell (Sahara), Alfons Conde (Fireworks Overture), Jerry Goldsmith (Fireworks), Alan Menken (Tangled), Patrick Doyle (Eragon), Panu Aaltio (Dawn of the Dragonslayer), Joel McNeely (Iron Will), John Debney (Little Giants), Brian Tyler (US Open), Christopher Gordon (2006 Commonwealth Games), David Arnold (2012 Summer Olympic Games), Michael Kamen (2002 Winter Olympic Games), and Gavin Greenaway (Epcot: IllumiNations – Reflections of Earth)

Enjoy!

Thanks for tuning in! And as always, I would love to read your feedback and get your suggestions on how I can make this particular show better. I’m also encouraging requests for this show. So, if there is something you want to hear please let me know. Send an EMAIL with your name and what track you want to hear.

This was a truly amazing and exhilarating two hours to listen to, Erik! If your day job is not curating and compiling film score albums, it really should be, because you really outdid yourself putting this show together.

As usual when I listen to your show, I was tempted to rush to Amazon and buy several albums as a result. I was (somehow) able to resist the temptation this time, but would certainly have paid for this show were it an album unto itself.

Thanks for all the time and energy you give to share your passion for this kind of music with us all. Wonderful stuff!

There was something for me everywhere in this broadcast. My musical background is defined by Williams, Goldsmith, and Horner influences. I could not help but be delighted by this compilation. The Liberty Bell ringing into Williams’ majestic melody in Liberty Fanfare or the Brass fugue at the end of Silver Fanfare reminded me of why I wanted to perform music in the first place.

And how about Jerry Goldsmith’s Fireworks. I have found that singular moment’s in music tend to mean the most to me and one of those is around 41:47 of your podcast to the end of the Goldsmith Fireworks segment. Call me a sucker for the French Horn but if I were to go back and choose an instrument to learn it would be the French Horn, if only for Goldsmith and Horner scores.

An absolutely awesome 2 hours of music. I will be listening to this set more than once. Thank you for all your time and effort in putting this together Erik!

Very good show, well done Erik. And thanks for including some of the MSM stuff in this marvelous company of amazing composers!

Mikael _ I offer you my thanks for releasing some greatest hidden film music gems of all time. If it weren’t for you, these scores would never have been heard. It is ALWAYS an honour and a pleasure to play your albums on the program!
