CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO HOSTS PARTICIPATE ON SETTLE THE SCORE GAME SHOW

I discovered the SETTLE THE SCORE podcast a few months ago when it was added to my YouTube recommendations.  First I thought it was an extension of two similarly named podcasts – SETTLING THE SCORE and/or A SCORE TO SETTLE – however, to my surprise, I found it to be something completely new.

Founded by Matt Knost and accompanied on the piano by maestro Andy Merryweather, the show is essentially a movie music guess that tune game show, that has contestants square off against one another to determine who has the best movie score and soundtrack knowledge. So, I decided to check out a random episode and once it was done I hadn’t realized that I just spend close to an hour watching and being thoroughly entertained not only by the hosts but by the contestants. It was so much fun to watch and try to guess the tunes myself that I jumped right into the next episode. That entire day was spend going down the SETTLE THE SCORE rabbit hole and I enjoyed every single second. The hosts are fun, funny, and courteous and Andy is a wonderful musician who not only plays every cue on his piano but belts out the lyrics to the various songs they’ve chosen as clues.

After watching a few more episodes, I decided that the world needed to know about this show… so I tweeted about it.  Almost instantly I got a response back from either Matt or Andy asking if I wanted to be a guest on the program with another host from the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO NETWORK. I immediately said yes.

A few months later Jason Drury from THE ARCHIVE and myself was finally on the program to showcase to the world out vast film music knowledge,  Well, Matt and Andy came prepared to stump us. I won’t give anything away… but you can see how we did below.

The experience of being on the program was nothing short of fantastic. Andy and Matt were welcoming and very kind. I’ve been a guest on various other podcasts over the years but this was a truly unique experience. And let me tell ya, being a contestant on any game show is a nerve-wracking experience. I’m not sure how those people on Jeopardy… or even Wheel of Fortune do it. When the pressure is on and you are under the spotlight having to answer the questions yourself, it’s amazing how quickly even some the simplest questions are the most difficult to answer. It’s a really strange phenomenon. Hahahaha… phenomenon. Get it? Nevermind, just watch the episode and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

I’m looking forward to joining Matt and Andy again on the future episode. This show has been one of my favourite discoveries of 2020 and is a show I wish I had come up with. Please subscribe to Matt’s channel so you don’t miss any future episodes and please follow Matt (not Mark) and Andy on Twitter.
