The original score for the film was composed by James Newton Howard, performed by The Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and was recorded by Bruce Botnick. The original soundtrack recording was originally released on MCA Soundtracks and was re-released in expanded form by La La Land Records 2017.
On the program, you’ll hear Randy and Erik talk about various topics including when they first saw the film, the bloated budget of the film, the use of practical vehicles and sets, the production design, modern composing tropes, how Hans Zimmer and Steve Porcaro assisted in the creation of this score, the contrast between high adventure and world music aesthetics, a detailed breakdown of six essential cues from the score and much more.
We hope you enjoy the discussion, and the music and if you have any questions about SOUNDTRACK ALLEY please email Randy directly.
