EP. 46 | STAR WARS 40th ANNIVERSARY

On May 25, 1977, Star Wars was released and proceeded to become one of the most popular and most profitable films of all time. To honour the 40th anniversary of this ground-breaking film CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO is proud to present music from all seven of John Williams’ film scores – STAR WARS, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RETURN OF THE JEDI, THE PHANTOM MENACE, ATTACK OF THE CLONES, REVENGE OF THE SITH and THE FORCE AWAKENS.  We will also be featuring music from Joel McNeely’s score to the 1996 novel SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE, Kevin Kiner’s score to the 2008 animated film STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, and two separate STAR WARS related video games – THE FORCE UNLEASHED and KINECT STAR WARS. And we’ll end off the program with a suite of music from Michael Giachino’s ROGUE ONE.

As we did with our RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK 30th ANNIVERSARY program we will be presenting alternate recordings of John Williams’ music from the seven films he has scored thus far.

CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO is syndicated on WROCK Radio and PodTyrant.

Never listened to this version of “Empire strikes back finale”. love it.

Wow, that wordless Yub Nub was pleasantly tolerable! Haha, I actually quite enjoyed it. (The original is fun enough, but I prefer the newer, more somber ending.)

And although I prefer when Across the Stars ends on a low note instead of resolving more nicely, I still really loved this recording, as well as this version of Battle of the Heroes.

Absolutely love The Battle track. I had that CD gifted to me 20 years ago and listened to it many times.

  4. Dave

    Brilliant selection.
Nothing from Peter Bernstein’s Ewok movies scores then? (LOL, only kidding.)
