THE ARCHIVE WITH JASON DRURY: EPISODE 37 – PART 2

Your host Jason Drury continues featuring music from archival releases of film music which appeared just before and after Christmas 2022 by first showcasing music from the expanded edition of Danny Elfman’s classic score to SPIDER-MAN (La La Land Records) and then playing selections of a true archival classic MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS, composed by John Barry (Quartet Records).

Jason then presents two suites, from two scores written for the same film, Alfred Hitchcock’s FRENZY (Quartet Records). Firstly, you’ll hear music from Henry Mancini’s rejected score and then you’ll hear the score used in the film.

You’ll then hear selections from Marco Beltrami’s score to THE FACULTY (Intrada Records).

The show ends with an alternate version of “Dry Your Tears, Afrika” by John Williams from the expanded release of AMISTAD (La La Land Records).

Enjoy!

Jason, as a life long fan of JB, I’m 72. Mary Queen if Scots was a wonderful and unappreciated score at the time. I ended up buying two LP’s as the original purchase, I left too close to the underground trains heating system. One really wobbly vinyl.
    Love the show mate.

Have to agree that the expanded Mary Queen of Scots was such a welcome release. Waited decades for it!
60s and 70s Barry was so special (I first started to really appreciate his music in 1966 as a six-year-old!) and I am so excited to see that there will be a new release (later this year?) with newly-recorded unreleased music from that period (and in the very safe hands of Leigh Phillips, Fernando Velázquez and Quartet Records). Can’t wait!
    Great show as always, Jason!
