Our John Williams album of the week comes from the 1985 Steven Spielberg anthology TV series AMAZING STORIES – we’ll be playing selections from the episode THE MISSION. Our Golden Age score of the week is Dimitri Tiomkin’s iconic score to the 1956 film, GIANT. Our video game score of the week is Lorne Balfe’s fantastic score to BEYOND TWO SOULS. Our re-recording of the week, as voted by YOU, is Bernard Herrmann’s classic score to Alfred Hitchcock’s NORTH BY NORTHWEST featuring conductor Joel McNeely and the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra
And we’ll end the program with our end title suite featuring the music by the late Elmer Bernstein, who would have turned 94 on April 4th. You’ll hear four selections from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC PRESENTS, THE BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ, STRIPES and SPACEHUNTER: ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE IN 3-D.
We’ll also be paying tribute to composer Terry Plumeri, who died tragically and senselessly on April 1st. Read a full report on the incident HERE. We are going to featuring music from my favourite Plumeri score, MR. ATLAS, at the top of program.
